The American Appendix Horse Association (AAHA) registers  the Appendix horse which is a Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred cross.

Paints ( APHA or The American Paint Horse Association) with Thoroughbred in bloodline are welcome.

Breeding Stock Paints are welcome to register without prejudice to lack of color.  This is not a color breed.

Horses that are 'X coded in AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) are welcome.  This way you can breed your 'X coded to a 'X coded and register the offspring as Appendix.

Horses already born to this combination are eligible for registration at the regular price.

If you enjoy eventing such as barrel racing, trail riding (endurance, pleasure, mileage/hourly or working ranch), hunter/jumper, dressage, cutting, ranch work or horse racing, you will want to register your horse into this association as Appendix and apply for a Performance Card to earn end of the year points.

You can look for your horse's pedigree with a Tattoo Search and then register your horse with a pedigree, or if you can not find the pedigree you still can registered under the Hardship  registration.

  • Quarter Horses or Paint horses  that have Thoroughbred in their bloodlines can dual register.
  • Any age horse can be registered, at this time.  AAHA will be adding additional cost for horses older then 2 years of age in the future.  Register now, to avoid any additional cost to register your horse.
  • The fee for a one year membership is $30.00 and $30.00 for each horse for registration.

The Appendix registry was established for the plight of the Appendix horse.  As a horse breeder you know that these horse have a lot of Thoroughbred in their bloodline.  The fact that the Quarter Horse breeders have bred so much Thoroughbred into their registries and then these horses are only in the appendix coded part of the American Quarter Horse Association.  Unless these horse  R.O.M. they  will not get a regular registry number, making it impossible to breed to other appendix coded, Paints, or to another Thoroughbred horse.  See Qualification to Register

AAHA allows the horse breeder to take the Thoroughbred horse, the Quarter Horse or Paint and make the Appendix breed.  Breeding Stock Paints are welcome to dual register without any prejudice to lack of color, or the Paint with Thoroughbred in their bloodline may dual register without prejudice to having color.  The coded appendix horse in the American Quarter Horse Association is welcome to register in as the Appendix breed of horse.  Allowing the owner to breed this horse to other horses and keep the pedigree ongoing.  See Registration

AAHA has an Enrollment program for horse owners of Quarter Horse, Paints and Thoroughbred to enroll their horse's pedigree in AAHA, so that the offspring of these horses are eligible for Registration into AAHA as an Appendix breed.  If you have a stallion this will give you more revenue because you can offer mare owners breeding certificate to register in AAHA.  You may breed your Quarter Horse to a Paint, Thoroughbred or another Appendix or coded appendix with AQHA and offer the owner a way to register the foal.  A Paint or Thoroughbred stallion owner may also do the same thing.

2007 "Horse Of The Year" Flight To Painful Falls #506-191A. Flight To Painful Falls was the "High Point Horse 2006". The great work Crystal Cooper and her mare are doing to promote the Appendix breed makes the mare a great choose for "Horse Of The Year".

AAHA has a Hardship Consideration program.  See Hardship Consideration for more information and forms to join.

AAHA has a Tattoo Search to locate your horse's pedigree.  We offer the owner a way to bring their horse back into a registry for this type of horse.  A lot of times these horses are sold without papers because they couldn't run the quarter of a mile in the time the Quarter Horse Association allows for a horse to qualify for their R.O.M..  These horse have so much Thoroughbred in their bloodline, that running the quarter of a mile in a fast burst of speed, is impossible because these horse need longer more distance races due to the Thoroughbred in their blood.  Without a R.O. M. these horses cannot be used for breeding in the Quarter Horse Association.  This is fine, because now these horses have a registry of their own.

We are excited to announce a great new service for all of our members. We now have our very own search engine that serves the equine community, exclusively. When you search for equine businesses by keywords, you will find equine related only businesses. We request that you use this search engine from now on for all your needs as businesses that choose to be on top of the list of searches pay a fee and we receive a percentage of that fee. Otherwise all listings are free to businesses.

If you are a business, we invite you to go to our home page, click on the link and enter your own free listing. You can also promote your own listing for better visibility and reach other association members.

The company "Equine Source Book" who has provided us the search engine technology on a co-brand basis is also printing the exclusive 2007 equine only directory. You also receive a complementary listing in this directory. Should you want further details, please click on this link www.equinesourcebook.com.

We value you as a member of our association and are looking constantly to add value to your membership with us. Go ahead and start searching.
